Fundamentals of values and governance
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Zachert (1943–2009), professor of labor law, honorary judge at the German Federal Labor Court, and long-standing member of supervisory boards in industry, had a formative influence on ZPE. Until his death, he played a key role in the development of ZPE as an advisorand investor. His influence stands for legal authority, commitment, and a professional understanding of governance— a foundation that continues to shape ZPE’s work to this day.
Institutional anchoring
ZPE is managed entrepreneurially and supported by experienced individuals. In the past,representatives at the highest level have served on the advisory board, including a formerAustrian chancellor and executives from the financial and media sectors. This involvement underscores the seriousness and institutional environment in which ZPE structuresand successfully implements transactions.
Olaf Zachert
Olaf Zachert (born 1977) is the founder and managing partner of Zachert Private Equity GmbH. He started his career in journalism with telefacts.tv, RTL Television, and BILD-Zeitung, before joining Bloomberg TV in London. In his early 20s, he founded News Network, a media company that became a key service provider for Bloomberg TV’s financial reporting in Germany. He later moved into restructuring and capital advisory through Crown Unternehmensberatung, focusing on media and mid-sized businesses.
In 2005, Zachert transitioned into private equity, investing in industries such as tourism, real estate, and manufacturing through Thangol Holding. After a brief return to the media sector in 2013, helping transform Publishers Partners GmbH into the online TV station doppio.tv, he resumed his private equity career in 2016 and has since remained an active venture investor.
