Olaf Zachert (born 1977) is the founder and managing partner of Zachert Private Equity GmbH. He began his career as a journalist by training as a TV editor and reporter at telefacts.tv Produktionsgesellschaft mbH in Essen in 1995. He worked in various editorial departments at RTL Television and BILD-Zeitung (Axel Springer Verlag).

After successfully completing his studies, he moved to Bloomberg TV London, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the international business information service Bloomberg L.P. His focus was on German DAX companies, technology stocks and the Neuer Markt. In his early 20s, he founded the News Network, a media company with eight nationwide locations and over 300 employees. In 2000, the company became the technical and editorial service provider for Bloomberg TV’s stock market reporting in Germany.

Through Crown Unternehmensberatung, he entered the field of restructuring and capital procurement consulting, initially for media companies and later also for medium-sized companies throughout Germany. In 2005, he moved into the private equity segment. Various investments in different sectors (including tourism, real estate, manufacturing, services) were successfully realized via Thangol Holding. Co-investor and Chairman of the Advisory Board was his father Prof. Dr. Ulrich Zachert.

In 2013, Zachert followed the call of a Luxembourg investor and returned to the media industry on a temporary basis for a restructuring mandate. As a member of the management board of Publishers Partners GmbH, publisher of the then largest German print supplement magazine doppio, he realigned the publishing house to become the Berlin-based online TV station doppio.tv.

In 2016, Zachert returned to his investment company and has been active as a venture investor ever since.
